Kayaking and Snorkeling at
MacArthur Beach State Park!
Saturday, June 22nd
8:45 am for kayak rentals
Snorkel and lunch afterwards at the beach!
(Too much fun, I know!)
Kayak the shallow estuary and beach lined island in the intracoastal, then walk (or take the tram) over to the Atlantic ocean side of the park to snorkel the Anastasia Rock Reef that comes almost up to shore. Pack a cooler with drinks, lunch and snacks. Dive flags and water shoes recommended for all our watery adventures today. It's going to be a great day!
Kayak and Paddleboard Rental Information:
Arrive at 8:45AM to rent kayaks or paddle boards. Or a bit later if you're feeling lazy or have your own gear, but kayaks cannot be reserved in advance and are very popular on weekends. (Paddle boards can be reserved, see below.) After we've all got our rentals we'll meet at 9:30 on the water under the little bridge (see map below).
If you bring your own kayak or canoe to the park you can launch it from the public launch. Please inquire at the Park Gate for directions to the launch site.
The kayak rental is at the Gift Shop inside the park. It's about a 5-minute drive from the front gate to the end of the parking lot where the Gift Shop is located. Kayaking: $15/hour ($38 for a half day) for a single kayak, or $20/hour ($50 for a half day) for a double kayak.
Paddle boards are rented from High Point Paddle Adventures, which located just outside of the main entrance of the park. They CAN be reserved online at https://highpointpaddle.com/ or by phone at 561-596-3535. Head south and look for the South Paddle Launch just after the bridge. Stand-up paddle board rental fees are: $20 for one hour, $30 for two hours, $40 for four hours.
Please note: Kayaks and paddle board rentals are done at two different locations about 1/4 mile apart, with the Kayak rental location inside the park, and Paddle Board rental location just outside the park. The paddleboard rental location is about a 5-10 minute paddle away from the kayak launch. Please see the map below for where to meet.
Snorkeling: After returning the kayaks and paddle boards we will head over to the beach for lunch & enjoy the excellent snorkeling on the rock outcroppings that are located in very shallow water near the beach. Reef squid, colorful tropical fish, and school of tarpon and snook are some of the fun things you may see. Dive flags are required for snorkelers, and can be rented for $5 in the gift shop.
