Shark Valley Loop, 15-mile Bike Ride or 2-hour Tram Ride

Followed by lunch at Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine. Meet us at 10:00 am at the Shark Valley Visitor Center. (See directions below)

A great place to ride, the Shark Valley Loop road is full of wildlife and closed to all traffic except bicycles and the trams, which come by about every half hour. The open-air tram ride is also a wonderful experience, and makes a stop at the observation tower half way through for great gator viewing.

Directions to Shark Valley Visitor Center: The Shark Valley entrance of Everglades National Park is located on U.S. Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail,) 25 miles west of the Florida Turnpike (SR 821,) or 39 miles east of SR 29. Search for “Shark Valley Visitor Center” on Google maps. The website warns that some automobile navigation systems will only find this rural location with the address 36000 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33194, others won’t find it at all, so you may want to use Google maps on your phone. NOTE: After about 10am the parking lot fills up and then you have to park on the road and walk into the park.

Directions to the Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine, 11500 Northwest 41st Street, Doral, FL 33178: The restaurant is just off of 821 on our way home. From Shark Valley Visitor Center we head back east on the Tamiami Trail through the everglades for 23 miles until we get to 821, and then go north for about 3 miles to exit 29. Turn right on 41st Street (Doral Blvd.) and the restaurant is on the right. They are a big place with lots of room, and our reservation is for 1pm. I expect we will be there closer to 1:30, if anyone is meeting us there.
