Hi Boca Skiers,
We are on our annual summer break; I know it is hot, so stay cool. The board will continue to work through these hot summer months gathering information on new deals for ski vacations, and finalize the 2011 trips. At the beginning of June, several Board members went to Tampa, for a work weekend with the Florida Ski Council. Some of the information will be used for future trips.
The Boca Ski Club membership voted in Michelle Sammartino and Chris Sammartino as new board members. As a result the board members for 2010 – 2011 are Rolf Marti, Jeff Lazarus, Barbara Gideon, Larry Eckert, Kathi Mosier, Tony Magna, Michelle and Chris Sammartino.
Thanks to Chris Sammartino, who set up a new Facebook page, for the Boca Ski Club. This is very exciting and should help keep members informed and spread the word. If you have anything you would like to share with all of us, please put it on Facebook. Don’t forget to check our webpage and Facebook to get all the information of our summer happy hours and weekend gatherings. We all like to stay in touch with each other not only for the ski trips but all our special events. Mark your calendar, the 2011 ski season will kick off with a picnic on August 22nd at 11:30 am, at the Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield. A flyer will be e-mailed out beginning of August. The monthly meeting at Duffy’s will resume in September.
By the way the rafting trip was a big success. We had a lot of fun. Some of the participants went horseback riding after arrival at the Dillard House, which is a fabulous place to go and relax. The Dillard house provided a new experience for me with its family style dinner, which was more like a dream, of an endless line of dishes with wide verity of southern food served. For many, the camping and eating at the campfire was a new experience as well. Rafting down the river was a thrill, the water was rather cold but the weather was perfect. Some of the rapids where scary, but there was no stopping we had to go with the flow of the river. Unfortunately Herma ended up with a broken arm (but her spirit was not broken, and the arm is healing well), also notable was a broken Fingernail and plenty of bruises and scratches. We all had such a blast that we are ready to take on our next adventure.

June is the beginning of our year, so please submit your payment as soon as possible. This helps us make deposits for the upcoming trips. Please print a membership application available on the website, and send it in today.

Just Show Up, Ski & Play!

1) Convenience. Pay, pack and participate. The trip leader makes all the arrangements for you.
2) Premier Destinations. Ski resorts bid on the opportunity to host the Club. Consequently the Club takes fantastic trips each year to popular ski areas domestic and international.
3) Economy. Because of the number of participants on each trip, you get better prices on lodging, lift tickets and airfare.
4) Friendship. Meet new friends with common interests, and a great way to network.
5) Fun. Parties, mountain picnics, apres ski and some meals are usually included in the price of the trip. We have a great time. What else do we need to say? Come ski with us! You'll be glad you did.
